China Industrial Bank Partners with Nigeria to Boost Digital Connectivity for 20 Million People

Nigeria’s drive to bridge the digital divide has received a significant boost following renewed support from China Industrial Bank (CIB) for the Nigeria Universal Communication Access Project (NUCAP). The Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani, reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to expanding digital connectivity and ensuring that millions of Nigerians in underserved and unserved communities gain access to reliable telecommunications services. The minister made this known after receiving a delegation from China Industrial Bank led by Peng Shuang, General Manager of Strategic Emerging Industries Business Headquarters, during a meeting in Abuja. According to Tijani, the NUCAP initiative is designed to transform digital access across the country by deploying approximately 3,700 telecommunications towers, a move expected to provide connectivity to more than 20 million Nigerians and accelerate economic growth, digital inclusion, and access to essential online services.
